14 Jul Continental Innovation Tender Announcement Under the Africa-EU Space Partnership Programme

The European Space Agency (ESA) has published an Intent Notice (1-12925 — Activity Number: 1000043594). This tender seeks to implement the activities associated with the Continental Innovation component of the EU-Africa Space Partnership Programme(AESPP), funded by DG INTPA under the Global Gateway initiative. These activities will be carried out at the continental level throughout the first phase of the programme (2025–2028). This component is designed to strengthen the African space private sector and support industrial cooperation between Europe and Africa. Additionally, this tender aims to establish a capacity development programme specifically tailored to support the Earth Observation (EO) private sector in Africa.

Key Objectives of the Tender

The project, titled “Continental Innovation,” will focus on implementing the activities required for the African Private Sector Cooperation component of the AESPP. Additionally, the main activities to be carried out under this tender include;

1. EO-Focused Training: This will involve delivering training programmes designed to equip young African entrepreneurs and researchers with the skills needed to develop Earth Observation (EO) applications and services for the private sector.
2. Support for Start-up Development: This will include the design and implementation of mentoring and business innovation programmes aimed at supporting Africa-based start-ups.
3. European-African matchmaking Events: This will involve organising matchmaking events and activities at a continental level to connect European and African Earth Observation innovators, industry stakeholders, and private investors.
