Agence Gabonaise d’Etudes et d’Observations Spatiales (AGEOS): Gabon’s space program, led by the Gabonese Agency for Space Studies and Observation (AGEOS), plays a central role in the country’s environmental monitoring, forest management, and natural resource mapping initiatives. AGEOS supports Gabon’s broader sustainable development goals, with a strong emphasis on forest preservation and climate adaptation. A key player in regional efforts, Gabon is a part of initiatives like the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI), focusing on protecting forests and promoting sustainable land use.

In addition to its environmental efforts, Gabon plans to develop its own CubeSat and is working on its first satellite to further enhance its capabilities in disaster risk reduction and sustainable land management. The remote sensing station operated by AGEOS provides real-time data that supports both forest management and biodiversity conservation. Gabon has also partnered with international organisations like the European Space Agency (ESA) on projects related to deforestation monitoring, carbon stock estimation, and wildlife tracking. With these ongoing efforts, AGEOS is positioning Gabon as a leader in climate and environmental monitoring within Central Africa, driving forward both national and regional space initiatives.
